oops ! broken one of the driving lights - where to source

Postby paulr » Sun Jun 20, 2010 8:24 pm

spent much of today working on our mk3 coupe- managed (and quite a struggle) to get dashboard off and instrument panel out to replace voltage stabiliser which I think (hope) has failed and hence no fuel gauge or temp gauge readings .

suddenly noticed one of the driving lamps had stopped working - 30 minutes of fiddling later found it was loose connection but on wiggling connection back of from inside engine bay managed to push lamp out and it fell - inevitably - lens downwards and broke!

can anyone point me at replacement 5 1/2" driving lamp to suit standard midas mount - the current ones are autopal ail-07-2004 and I am about to search online - they seem to have soldered onto the rims connectors to slot into the mounts - not sure if that is standard and be glad of the guidance please ,

now for a beer!

I think my Cibié lamps started life as the inner set on a Jag, they were relatively easy to find on ebay. From memory Triumph 2000, Escort RS2000 and so on used them as well.
