175/60 x 13 tyres

Postby Stuart » Wed Mar 23, 2011 9:02 am

Anyone out there running 175/60 x 13 tyres on their mk3's ?

I ran a set on my mk2 many years ago. I'm looking for more comfort these days, also with a fairly lofty ride-height they will give both good ground-clearance and hopefully not catch on the flat top part of the arch.

I'd have preferred some 185/55's, but it looks like this size is going out of fashion just like the 165/60 has done.

I have CF1's on another car, and find them good, they do a 175/60 x 13 as well

I had these on my first Midas. They chafed my wheel arches under heavy bouncing. They are made of soft rubber, resulting in a softer ride but less steering precision. Also they wear out quicker than a Good Year or a Bridgestone.

Interesting, thanks Hans. As you say they are pretty soft, they're wearing pretty quickly on the front of my Micra.

I may give them a try if they're still available when the car needs tyres, carefull positioning of the front coilovers should stop any rubbing issues and I guess running some of the OE spec wheels with a 130 mm C-dimension will also give more top arch clearance being that extra 15 mm inset into the arch.

My old A-001 Yokohamas, the best tyres I've ever had by a very large margin
