Fan blower resistor

Here's a question for you electronics gurus.
I've never been particularly fond of the resistor for the fan motor control.
A replacement option would be to use a PWM controller such as

That one's rated at 30A, would it do the job, is 30A sufficient, should I just learn to live with the cruddy risistor?

I've used on of these to control the heater fan on my midas:

I've just got a little pot in the dash board to control the speed and a selector switch when i want the fan to run flat out. Works well although you have to build it yourself!

Is this for the heater fan or for the radiator fan?
