What should it be?

After about 2 years of non-use, my rear brakes are seized on, even with the handbrake off, the drums won't turn.

The adjusters are seized and I've just ordered an adjuster spanner from Mini Spares, but I want to replace the rear cylinders while I'm at it and would like to know in advance what bore they should be. Currently it's the standard Metro braking system. Mini Spares have both 0.5" and 0.75" bore, but I'm sure there was once a 5/8" bore cylinder available too, possibly also other sizes.

Which should I go for?

Rimmer Bros only seem to offer one size, but the website doesn't say what size it is.

I know I'll be able to measure the old ones once they're off the car, but it's possible they may not be the correct size...

Hi Geoff, thanks. Hope you didn't have to strip your brakes down to tell me that! ;)

Are your brakes the standard Metro issue, otherwise?

Anyone know where I can get brake cylinders in 11/16" bore?

When I replaced mine about four years ago I just went into my local motor factors and asked for a pair of rear cylinders for a 1989 MG metro. I had them later the same day. it's worth a try.

No, I've still got the last one I took off! They don't seem to last very long. Yes, my brakes are standard Metro at the moment - I got my new cylinders at my local factor.
