Does this car still exist?
Apparently it had a special 'heavy duty' bodyshell with various mods, including extra wide Richard Oakes designed wheel arches, dural plated floor, larger fuel tank, full roll cage etc.
It was fitted with a full race specification 1430cc/120BHP engine mated to a trick automatic gearbox! Quoted 0-60 mph was 4.5 seconds!
It was developed and driven by David Bird from Stoke-on-Trent, co-driven by Richard Potts circa 1980.
I would be very interested in further info. concerning this beast!!!
Dave.

Dave,
I assume LVT430V was the first Midas I ever saw. It was at the start of the Lindisfarne rally in Newcastle,
and I can only assume it is the same car as it was an automatic which surprised me! It must have been around 1982
and as soon as I saw it I wanted one! It took me to 1989 to save the pennies to buy my Midas Decathlon which I still have.
It was white and was entered on this occasion by Midtec racing. You brought some memories back!
I have checked on the DVLA site and it now appears as being orange and taxed until November 2010 so it is still around.
How is your Decathlon progressing?
Regards
Alberto

Hi Alberto, slow progress I'm afraid. I need my son to clear all his rally spares from the garage to give me some space, the Midas is still sitting on the trailer. I have been applying some special polish and plenty of elbow grease to bodywork, and the British Racing Green gel coat is looking amazingly good already!
I've also been buying some parts, including 4 good 5 x 12 Minator alloys with tyres for £77 off "fleabay" which was quite a bargain!
Anyone else got any pics of LVT 430 V?
Regards,
Dave.

I got these from Steve Evans (a former club board member, suddenly disappeared from the Midas scene), taken at Stoneleigh 2001:

Yes agreed, I like the Manta 400 look as well!
Anyone got any interior shots of the beast?!
Cheers, Dave.

hello all
ah just spotted this LVT 430 V still exsists waiting to be nailed back together after a shunt. Got a new front end
for it from a chap who lives near burton on trent it wont look like a manta 400 as the front is a mk2 it needs dressing up to match body
as at some time it was converted to a bolt on front. The nearside wheel arch needs repairing as it is in three pieces.
Problem was I tried to do too much in one go and lost my way .It has wind up windows now instead of plastic ones, minispares 4pot alloy front brakes.
I wanted KAD alloy rear arms and disc brake conversion but due to a change in circumstance they are now on the wish list.I might consider a swap or sale
so if you have a genuine AC cobra or a GT 40 or £500000 I'm not greedy, due consideration will be given but don't be offended if turned down.
KEEP THE SHINEY SIDE UP and BE LUCKY.
