MIDAS BRONZE CHASS NO DO 20342 D3

Postby d.woodspeed » Sun Sep 12, 2010 8:18 pm

Hi!
I have just become the owner of above which is on a "D" prefix reg no. but I'm guessing its a bit older than this, can anyone tell me what year this was manufactured?
I'm assuming it is a Mark two, as it has the flared "stick-out" wheel arches, and the front bumper with two cut-outs for spot lights.
It is British Racing Green gel-coat and in need of some restoration, having had many owners and been off the road for many years, but I promise I will do my best to get her back on the road!!

Cheers, Dave.

Hello Dave,

Your MIDAS is a Midas Decathlon , body manufactured in 1989. Mine is a Decathlon chassis number DO 20340 which was the last one to leave the factory although yours has a later chassis number! If you look at reg Q867WTY under mk2 in dead or alive you can see mine!
Good luck with the renovation.

Alberto,
Thanks for that, I did'nt realise I had bought a special edition!!!

Your's looks good, gives me a goal to aim for!

What size wheels/tyres does yours have, 12" or 13" and how wide? This is something on my shopping list, but I don't want to run in to clearance problems, so this would be really useful info.

Regards, Dave.

Dave,

Mine has standard Mini 12 " 4 1/2 " wide alloy wheels at the front and Minilight 12" 5 " wide at the back. The tyres are Yokohamas A539 165/60 12 front and back. It use to have Minilight 5" at the front as well but I damaged one and put some spare wheels I had from a mini . Bye the way the Mini ones will not fit at the back with these tyres as they rub against the coil springs.
