Flasher unit

Postby mfdriver » Mon Sep 29, 2014 6:12 pm

More worries. Just about to take my new purchase for fact finding MOT and up until yesterday all electrics working fine. Final check today and indicators have packed up. Hazards work Ok, but I cannot even begin to wonder where the flasher unit might be hidden. Is there a usual place to find it, or is on the whim and whimsy of every individual builder as to where it might have ended up? To add to my woes the dash panel is riveted in place, not screwed!
The build manual says very little about wiring and of course, anyone could put anything anywhere - in this case nowhere obvious!
Thanks

As standard they are fitted to little clips on the bulkhead behind the dash, accessed by removing the speedo pod, which brings a few issues, or release the whole dash and try to reach down from the top.

Well! I found the little devil in the auxiliary switch box as fitted to Metros, tried a spare that I had - still no luck. Took it for MOT this morning and it would have passed with flying colours apart from indicators! What a blow and totally unexpected as car was taken off the road in 1990 and has not been used since! So left it with garage to sort them out.
Hopefully will be back on the road later this week
