In view of what happened last time I was on my travels....

I'm out of the country between 27 June through to 6 July.

Server will be up and running and powered by Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) backup system , but if it goes down (I hope not) I will sort it on my return.

Alan, send me an sms if theres a problem and I can tell my wife to reboot it.

Cheers,

David

Hi guys. I'm off on a business trip for a few days on the Med Coast in France and Italy.

So I am leaving the server unattended.

If it goes offline dont worry I will be back to sort it after the 28th Feb.

Heres hoping its OK.

Cheers,

David

If you like it bloody hot, Holland would have been possible as well. Today 30 to 37 degrees C!

30-37. Heck thats nice. 28 is best for me...with a cool sea breeze. Not much chance of that though...more like 40.

All the best.

dear all,

due to sly (sky) ripoff merchants deciding to buy my ISP and then shut it down and then offer me a disgusting service in return (can you imagine me breaking their contract? tossers!) I am going to have to get a new ISP. Its going to be costly now too because of this, so I will be going over to dynamic DNS based IP hosting (as its free) rather than fixed IP. Only issue with this is some firewalls are picky about URL redirecting (which is basically what dyndns does).

Basically just letting you know this may cause issues in the short term due to down time on the forum whilst I move over.

Maybe you can have a .net or .co.uk website instead of .com which is the cause of all trouble. I was offered midascars.com also stolen by merchants.

Hello David,

If there is any cost involved let us know, so we can organise a whip round. It may be that you need an operating fund.

thanks for the offer chaps. Its not a .com thing. we're fine with that.

Its regarding where the ip address resolves. Most home internets use dynamic ip. ours is fixed ip as its used it for multiple business reasons, however it seems it is progress to go backwards these days. we had a better service 5 years ago.
