After some considerable thought I would like to sell my Midas. Some info here, and pictures hopefully attached, but please do ask if further information is needed.
Its a 1988 model originally based on a MG Metro
1310cc engine professionally build by MLM Motorsport (with AC Dodd) 3 years ago to a great fast road specification
ported head, MLM's own RS camshaft, 1:3 roller rockers.
Single Hif44 SU modified AC Dodd, Distributer modified by AC Dodd to match camshaft
85 bhp on the rolling road with an excellent flat torque curve
Slightly lightened and balanced
Gearbox fully rebuilt at the same time, with central oil pick up and four pin differential
High torque starter motor and new alternator.
This lot cost me over £3.5k at the time!
The car has an original Midas stainless exhaust with a mild steel LCB from maniflow (the one with the larger centre tube).
Protech alloy adjustable dampers all round, coil over on the back with my own long spindle to mount it.
Front has been converted to springs with the watsons parts.
front and rear subframes are in good shape
I put in new wheel bearings and seals when the engine went in 3 years ago
Heated front and rear screens
Original interior, well, what's left anyway....its OK till you get to floor level than it need carpet, which I have in a roll ready to cut and fit,
The bodywork – would certainly benefit a re-spray as there are stone chips and general wear due to the front tyres kicking up debris. There is also a chip in the gelcoat at the rear wing, but moreover the front LH wing is cosmetically damaged because I bumped someone at a junction because they decided not to go after all(low speed but still cracked and chipped the gelcoat there).
Original 13'' alloys 0 Revolutions, with Yokohama 539's on, which are practically unused also a set of 12'' pepperpots shod with winter tyres (fantastic in the snow and ice, rubbish in the dry)
Current mileage on this engine is about 36,000 and the leak-down is 7.5%
I've owned it four years now, but the fleet of cars and bikes is too large...things have to go. But the Midas remains the most fun car I have ever owned.
I'm open to offers targeting £2k for starters. It would be a shame to split it and sell the engine separately...
