There was a little crack, so I stuck my nail in and pulled the gelcoat off uncovering this large void.
So who was it then? 1981 laminator step forward

Yes, air bubbles are definitely lighter than resin.
Hmmm, I wonder if I can fill resin with helium bubbles. That would be lighter still!
