Postby centredonkey » Sat Jun 16, 2018 7:27 pm

Hi, Folks
does anyone have any of the following to help move our Mk2 resto on?
Allegro radiator or similar
Pair of headlights to fit Mk2
Useable rear coilovers.........just to get the car mot'd
Front screen rubber, doesn't have to be perfect....just to get the car on the road.
Cheers

Yes, I have just had a batch of brand new rubbers made to the correct section. See the thread under General Chat - viewtopic.php?f=41&t=2892
PM me if you want a set.

The Allegro radiators are very difficult to find these days, your best bet is ebay. A Metro Mk1 rad is very similar, but doesn't have the take off for the header tank (that comes off the thermostat housing on the Metro). A lot of Mini race cars use front radiators derived from the Metro Mk1 rad, so aluminium versions are available.

The Mk2 headlights are also Allegro. The same light units were also used in Hillman Hunters and Ford Capris, albeit with different frames. Ebay is again your best bet, I found a pair of new/old stock headlights on ebay for Desmond Gorman's Mk2 last year.

Getting close to first fire up now!
Only had the car 4 1/2 years!!
Managed to salvage the allegro rad, hopefully will go again with a can of K-seal, the fan motor is u/s, but I guess it will be ok for the highland winter without.
Got a MKII clio rad to fit, I plan to fit the fan in the nose space, blowing thru the rad, to get it the hell out of the engine bay...that'll be a summer project!
Still looking for a pair of rear coilovers good enough to pass an mot if any one has any?
