Wheel arches on the Mk3's

I just read in the latest magazine that the Mk3 Coupe and Mk3 Convertible have different sized wheel arches.

The convertibles apparently being larger. Is this correct?

Having done quite a lot of measuring on both my Coupe and Convertible to work out subframe dimensions I didn't find that to be the case.....Have I missed something?

If so, where is it different? Always looking to find out something new....

I noticed that too David, early mk3 coupes had a flat surface to the rear of the front wheel-arch, and later mk3 coupes had this area scalloped out, so all convertibles will have the later wheel-arch type I guess, I've had both versions of the coupe, I'm not aware of any other changes, but you never know.

...well I have an early Mk3 and yes it is slightly flatter at the back of the wheel arch. Still scalloped, only slightly less. I wouldn't say it would be enough to alter what size tyre/wheel combo I could use though.

Fits in with the different floor pans though I guess for the later Mk3's.

So you have 2x Mk3's now? I didn't realise you had 2 Stuart.
