Whilst stripping my Mk 1's interior, I have just taken out the seatbelt mounting near the sill on the driver's side and water poured out. I can only assume that because it has been standing outside for several years somehow water has got in. Is there a drain channel that could have got blocked? I'm a little averse to drilling the sills to let any excess water out so would appreciate any help on the matter.

Is there a drainage pipe/channel on a Mk 1, where is it and what's the best way to unblock it??

My MK2 has a hole at each end of the sill, a couple of inches in from either end and an inch or so up the side of the sill from the floor edge, I also have a feeling they may have used the holes to locate the body on their production dollies at some point too.
