Heater Issues: Potential Replacement?

My Midas project's heater issues continue - I am not happy with the modifications I have started (but not yet finished) with putting a Sierra Blower motor into a Mini heater housing. I have always regarded the Mini heater design as rubbish, and as I will be building a new dash design from scratch I thought that I may as well include a half decent heater and vents.
There is slightly more space under the dash area in the Midas than a Mini's but not much. Can anyone recommend a potential replacement, more modern and therefore more efficient heater for me? Ta v much.
