Megajolt

Postby wolfie » Tue Mar 06, 2012 11:36 pm

Hi everyone, I've decided to fit a megajolt system so gone scrapyard/ebay hunting and got coilpack, edis unit, complete wiring bits from the donor plus sensor and a dizzy bung. Question is where's the best place to buy the actual megajolt ecu and trigger wheel and how much should I expect to pay?

Why just Megajolt? There are plenty of programmable ecu's that can do the ignition. F.e. this one:

Although this one is too expensive, i've seen Omex 150c been sold for 150 pounds. And these are still being sold new for the A-series (spi and mpi models), so mapping should be available. Another cheap ecu are the Gotech's. Quite rare in Europe, but every now and then they are on offer, sometimes on a tuners forum. It seems a Gotech pro with wireloom does 200 pounds although I've seen being sold once for 100 pounds. And these can do injection as well. Another popular ecu is Emerald, I've been chasing these for my car but they still fetch between 450 and 500 pounds. Amazing because new they are under 600 pounds.
Generally every ecu that does just ignition can be used and they should cost no more than 200 pounds. This was an interesting one too:

But I am going injection as well, so I didn't bid on this one. Just sold my HIF44 carb and bought a set of Honda firestorm throttle bodies. When I have them I can start making an intake manifold and airbox. Alas still haven't found a suitable (= affordable) ECU that can do wideband lambda.

I turned down a section of the pulley to fit the ring which was ultimately epoxied and held on with cap screws.

The sensor bracket I turned from a bar of aluminium and fitted it to the timing cover.

I can't link to my posts due to the way the forum is set up so I'll post some pics when I get home tonight.

I came across this kit, everthing complete ignition AND injection for 1000 pounds. Sounds terrific to me. I am trying to keep my expenses below this, but if I add everything up this might be a bargain.
