wanted, measurements of anti roll bar bush

Postby Hans Efde » Wed Aug 29, 2012 10:14 am

I am in discussion with Powerflex to create a better anti roll bar bush for the Metro suspension. The present one does not fit properly. I know Ed had the same problem, but Powerflex have been making this bush for 12 years and it seems I am the only one complaining. Possibly there have been changes in the anti roll bar design?
Anyway they are willing to change the bush to a better fitting one. There first idea is to make it higher so when you bolt the bracket to the subframe it squeezes the gap tight. Personally I would like to see the gap on the upper side.
I will take measurements of the bracket it's sitting in, but it would be nice if anyone of you had an original Metro bush on the shelf and would be willing to take measurement and post them here. I don't have the originals anymore, so if anyone would help that would be great
I am looking for this bush Item 24):

I've sent some to your Yahoo email address. The powerflex ones are clearly missing the chamfer on the outer side.

Thanks Stuart. I've forwarded your pics and measurements to Powerflex. I asked the tech. rep. about the history of their design but due to a fire 3 years ago their archive was destroyed.

And it's running smooth but slow: new shock absorbers installed, spring cover plates trial fitted, no interference with the shock absorbers. Installed hubs (not painted yet, to be done at a later date) and am now painting the drive shafts and installing them with new boots. Present view:

Shock absorbers were fitted with the old Avo rubbers which are much better than the new ones supplied by Spax.
Return of engine delayed until end of September which is a bit annoying.
