I informed Maniflow about this discussion and have asked for comment. There is a big gap between 350 and 180. Perhaps it's better to invest in SS than in gold! Or is someone just trying to rip me off? I'll contact my Mini specialist tomorrow and ask if they have an alternative for a SS quality LCB. I believe they import their stuff from Minispares, but maybe they have another source. For a mild steel LCB they charge 143 euros, about 125 pounds.
As for the inlet manifold I just bought a reconditioned MG Metro manifold for 25 pounds. I intend to bolt the turbo HIF44 directly to it (of course change the needle). Also fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator then can stay in place. I saw in the David vizzard book a long pipe ram system. I think I can copy that by using the carburettor air chamber (MG called it an intercooler). By luck I have a connector from a Montego turbo that fits on it. It's just a matter then of removing the air hose from the turbo and connecting it directly on the Montego adaptor. The hose runs to a big KN filter in the nose below the left headlight where it catches ram air wind via an extra intake in the bumper. I am pretty confident that without the turbo but with a good airflow the engine should still be able to generate 90bhp.
