Heater Swap

Hi Folks,

After a year of just driving and enjoying the Midas and playing with aircraft bits instead it's time for a tweak or two to make it the convertible a bit more comfortable over the winter. The Metro heater not being the best thing on gods green earth I'm about to embark on an experiment to see if an MX5 blower unit will fit and possibly the heater core. From the look of it in pictures the blower should fit under the dash and hopefully hook up to the bottom of the existing blower housing (with the existing fan removed and blanked off).

I hope that this will improve the flow rate of air through the heater and with the existing blower motor removed potentially allow enough space to fit twin carbs at a later date.

Has anyone else tried this before?

Cheers,

Mike

My Ginetta uses a Mini heater and it's open top too (in fact I never fitted a roof to it). I've got twin Delortos on the Ginetta but not fitted them to the heater, had never thought of it but I think I'll give it a miss ;-)

It's official the MX5 heater won't fit under the dash still having a play with the fan unit which should fit under the bonnet with some mods.

Get an eberspacher d1 on ebay. Plenty of support and spares. Not cheap but Job done.
