Dash removal?

Ok, how on earth do you get the instrument panel out of the dash? My speedo head is u/s and I need to fit a spare one, I'm also going to need to run some wiring for this new heated windscreen

While I'm at it, is there any way of removing the entire dash?

The dash is an integral part of the body, so it's fixed. You can remove the instruments pod but the question is which one do you have? The Rover 200 dash or the Metro one? For the Rover 200 dash there is a special manual section that can be found on the Spanish server. Generally for the Rover 200 you need to remove the steering cowling upper part, frontal dash piece and then remove 2 nuts underneath the dash. Then the whole pod is moved forward and you can access the wiring loom and speedo cable.
For the Metro version I have no idea how that is fastened.

Hi Hans,

That's a bummer, I've got a Mk2 Metro dash fitted.

Thanks for the reply though.

Metro dash is held in by 4 nuts underneath the dashboard IIRC either 10mm or 11mm with large penny washers.

...and when you put them back on use stainless wing nuts instead of hex nuts. Will save you a load of hassles later.
