Re: Midas Gold Coupe for sale, restoration project

Glad you managed to sort it David. I hope it gets a refresh and back on the road with whoever has taken it on.
It looks like that will happen, it already looks much shinier than it ever did in my ownership.
Sean has set me photos of his progress and I'm impressed. It's a big job though, it needs a ...

Re: Midas Gold Coupe for sale, restoration project

Hello all, sorry about the lack of response from me but I don't often look in here now.

However, despite what I've said elsewhere (usually Facebook), the car is up for sale again. I did have someone agree to buy it but he dropped out.
I'm in the Midas Cars group on Facebook which is where I'm most ...

Yes, the car's still available.
I have more photos of the engine bay and interior, but can't remember how to post them here.

Re: Midas Gold Coupe for sale, restoration project

I've had little time to do anything about this, but I have had an offer for the car, considerably below what I think the car is worth.
However, I have to acknowledge that I'm not going to get what I want for it, so if anyone else is interested, I'm now lookine for £750 or anything close to that.
For ...

Midas Gold Mk 3 coupe in need of restoration.
Last MoT mileage was 117,000 miles. It's an A+ 1275 overbored to 1340 I believe, although the capacity change hasn't been documented. Has not run for several ...

Midas Gold Coupe for sale, restoration project

My 1989 Mk 3 coupe needs a new owner with more spare time than I have.
I have had it for several years, during which time it has been on a ramp for all but a few months. It's currently without its rear subframe and would need to be taken away on a trailer or in a largeish van.
I bought it with a ...

Re: Mk 2 Rebuild (to replace the company car)

i found this chaps name on everything - the builder/ glasser maybe?
Mr/Ms/Miss Harvard would have been the first owner for whom the car was built.

Re: Mk 2 Rebuild (to replace the company car)

The car's dashboard was designed for a Metro instrument pod, but it doesn't use a Metro wiring harness. The wiring harness is unique to the Midas, or so I was told.
Having said that, I'd imagine you could modify a Metro wiring harness to fit.
If you're using a 6 volt coil from a Metro, the standard ...

Re: Mk1 001 FNT349V

From what I remember, I think your bonnet may not be original. My recollection is that the original Midas bonnet did not have the bulge for the oil filler cap, but that it was added later in production. However, it's not something I would omit for the sake of originality as the additional clearance ...
