After a wee break, back into the Midas.

Arranged a meet to pick up a block and some other bits, and ended up getting some coilovers as well.

Pics to follow, but suffice to say, car now has disc brakes, just a set of 8.4's, but would stop it way better than the drums it had. Only problem being our ...

Some progress, lights are on, and courtesy of ebay , new indicator lenses and headlights. The purests wouldn't agree but were swaping the allegro/ reliant headlights for Triumph Acclaim, two reasons - 1- there cheaper, 2 they sit fully flush with the outer rim of the surrounds. as were using the ...

We're putting a standard head on the current engine, but will be getting a big valve head for the 1380 - drained the oil and it stank! ... and had lots of very small metal particles in it - not good!

Set up a fuel line and drip fed the carb to try and get the car started.... it ran for about twenty ...

Out of interest do any of the 3 Mistral wheels supplied with the Midas have centre caps? I am after one that looks like this:

Oops! My typo!
.... yes I agree a bit odd - we got the original booklet with the car and having read that and the Bronze build guide, it states very clearly the recommendations about brakes!

Midas Silver - aka Minipaw - rebuild

A month ago we happened upon this little soul on Ebay - looked very sorry for himself :(
The car is a 1984 Midas Silver Q127 PES, car was used for four years - but after doing some checks with the DVLA it appears the car has been off the road since 1988!!! :o .
Car looked very sorry for itself ...
