Re: Midas Cortez driver's side door drop glass

That would be nice. After a series of niggles, and failed wheel bearings, clutch release bearing went the other day and I just discovered that the spare clutch I bought a while back is the wrong one, so it's not a good week for me and my Midas. The beloved just offered me a grand towards a new car ...

Re: Midas Cortez driver's side door drop glass

I feared as much.

Oh well, that's going to be a painfully expensive mistake. Thanks very much.

Midas Cortez driver's side door drop glass

I don't suppose anyone knows where the drop glass for the Cortez window originally comes from. I now have drop glass from the three door and five door Rover hundred sat in my garage but neither fits. I've cut myself a nice perspex one, but it's not quite the same.

I don't want to talk about how it ...

That's extremely cool. Isn't that a 25 engine? I would imagine that it will go like stink when its finished. I look forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Re: Q804BCH back on the road

Well, that's a thousand miles done. Everything is smoothing up nicely and the little niggles have mostly actually been little. The worst was a dodgy fuel sender which left me with a mystery stoppage due to fuel starvation which had me stumped until I got logical and used the dipstick to check fuel ...

Q804BCH back on the road

Too early to be a Cortez, Q804BCH is a MK IV+2. After an awful lot of head scratching, a lot of wire brushing, too much puzzling with a multimeter, some interesting fuel tank surgery and a ridiculous amount of replacement sensors, parts and so on, mostly furnished from a now almost gutted 114 in ...

Re: castle combe miniworld action day

I'm in the middle of trying to write something about going around that track and I thought I'd log on to see if anyone else had said anything. That video really sums up quite a bit of how that felt. However, there were one or two difference in E500YPP. First, the overtaking to being overtaken ratio ...

Re: Trailing arm

If it is the same as the convertible then the radius arm is one of the few jobs that I have done which was less work than I expected. The manual says that you have to disconnect the brake line, but I found that this is not necessary, you can just separate it from the hub and radius arm and tuck it ...

Re: Changing steering rack

the way is to unbolt one front and one rear mount and rotate the subframe downward on the remaining axis (as the mounts are inline front to rear). You might need to take exhaust off to allow this too.

Just fitted a new rack and thought I would confirm that that this is perfectly correct, but that ...

Re: workshop open day/BBQ

Hi all,

Just a quick note to thank everyone for such a pleasant event and for your forbearance with my youngest. As always, thanks to Alistair and all the old hands for their knowledge and wisdom and the Moss family for the splendid food. Once again an enjoyable and inspirational time - I thought ...
