Re: Midas Cortez Coupe For Sale
Just filled her up for the run to the open day tomorrow, couldn't resist a good B-road blat back from the petrol station, making the mile journey into 10 or so! Brings a smile to your face for sure!!

Midas Cortez Coupe For Sale
With a heavy heart I feel the time is right now to advertise my Midas Mk4/Cortez having not had the time to put into it in recent years for a mix of family and work reasons.
The car is well known within the Owners Club, having been owned previously by David Johnson, and I would like to ensure it ...

Re: cortez cam belt change
Cool, thanks for the reply.
I’ve taken some pics of access, as you did, and will contact them for a quote I think. Plenty of other jobs to get it back on the road that I shall try and spare myself this particular hassle.
The bonnet, headlights and front bumper moulding are all off - so it’s ...

Re: cortez cam belt change
Jin,
Did you use the mobile mechanic for the belt change in the end? And if so did they manage to do it OK on the Mk4 without dropping the subframe or anything as drastic?
I’ve taken a few bits off to get to the point I could start on the head gasket, belts and bump on mine 1.4 GTi based one, but ...

Good to meet everyone yesterday and give David's old car a good long run, only our second drive of it since collecting then fixing the brakes.
Thanks for making Sophie and I welcome!
I'll keep everyone updated on my quest to get a new remote plip for the immobiliser and get it synced up.

Re: P321 FRB - Midas Cortez
The black paint on white gel looks quite ropey up close, but from a distance having been washed does look rather good!

P321 FRB - Midas Cortez
Slow progress since picking up David's Midas through being busy at work and then a bout of food poisoning but today I actually drove it for the first time.
When I picked the car up David mentioned a slight weep of brake fluid down the pedal inside, so on Thursday I decided to tackle this.

Looking great Jin,
Your thread is real inspiration for me to get on with David's old car.
Thursday afternoon was mostly spent on my back in the drivers footwell unbolting and replacing the servo/master cylinder stack.
David had warned me the master cylinder was leaking, but it was only when I ...

Re: Another Cortez wanted thread!
Finally got to take the car trailer down to Bristol on Saturday to collect the Midas.
So very sad that David passed away before I could get back to collect it but I am not looking forward to pressing it into service as daily driver while it is a work in progress.
With that in mind, first order of ...

Great thread Jin,
I finally picked up my car at the weekend and it will soon be time to start work on it.
I intend it to be daily driver while a work in progress so first concern is to replace the master cylinder which is currently leaking brake fluid through the servo and into the footwell ...
