Windscreen washer

What car is the washer from? I've got a broken pump. Could it be Ford Fiesta? The washer fluid container is a Hella item and has german writing on it, and it seems like a standard unit... The build manual says it's a Lucas pump assembly, which seems weird, since mine is not, and it still looks like ...

Re: Bronze Battery

I also had to saw of the rails off. The old battery died on a rainy december morning, and after a day at work I got back to my car, parked alongside a park in downtown Helsinki, only to find out it won't fit. I just managed to find a shop where I could get a hacksaw, and proceeded to saw off the ...

Re: Fuel Vapourising

Mine went right next to the exhaust manifold, diagonally from the pump to the carb in a metallic tube, not a braided hose or whatsoever. So it's no wonder it vapourized, since the metal pipe was under a centimeter from the headers.

Re: Fuel Vapourising

Mine's a Mk2 Bronze, but...

I've had vapour lock or vapourizing problems too. I replaced the metallic diagonal fuel line from the pump to the carb with a rubber hose routed straight up and around the carb. I'm hoping this will solve the problem. The only problem is, that I won't know without ...

Re: Vapour lock?

Hey all. My Midas is back on the road with a rebuilt engine. (1380cc with a fast race cam, bigger carb, tube headers).

The vapour lock is even worse now, since the exhaust manifold is now even hotter. It's hickuped a few times and stalled twice after running slowly in the traffic. The only thing ...

Re: Any ideas on engine conversion?

The Douvrin is a pain in the arse to work on, at least when it's tilted. Pretty much everything is below the engine or deep down the side except the oil filter...
I don't think it would fit in the Midas, tilted like it is.

I used to have a Visa, amazingly comfortable little car. I would love to ...

Re: Vapour lock?

Those were taken at the Helsinki cruising night. First friday night of every summer month gathers hordes of american car enthusiasts to the central marketplace square of the capital. (Only in the summer of course. Those were taken in may, and it was quite rainy and cold...)

And not just american ...

Re: Fading Gelcoat

My car has originally been beige/yellowish, and it's been sprayed white at some stage. Poorly. The white paint is chipping of and peeling off the grey primer. I'd be tempted to strip it back to the beige gelcoat, but I guess the gelcoat would be quite bad by now. So my best option might be a respray ...

Re: Greetings from Sweden

I was lucky to get mine registered here in Finland. My friend who brought the car to the country says that it helps if the british registration papers have the car marked totally as Midas. (Meaning that there is no mention of Mini or Metro in them.) Also, the older they are, the less regulations ...
