MK3 Gold swop for my MX5?

Ok, my search for a MK3 Gold takes a another step.
I'm thinking I might swop my immuculate red, MK2 MX5, 56k miles, leather seats, FSH (can be viewed on Pistonheads) for a MK3 Gold.
Now that has to be a good deal!

Re: MK 3 Gold Coupe Wanted

Thanks Hans.
He's been trying to sell that Grey one for a while hasn't he. I have to admire the optimism of £3k for a car that's not exactly in great condition.
Oh well, I might make him an offer to test the water

Re: MK 3 Gold Coupe Wanted

I was gutted to miss a MK3 Coupe for sale in Wales on classic cars last week. Duh.
What a wally I felt.
I'm still looking so if anyone knows of one I'd be pleased to hear. (barring the Dutch LHD car which is a little bit more expensive than I plan to spend on a base race car)

Re: Rover K Series

Thanks for the help guys.

That's helped me finalise my plans. K series is the definitely the way especially with the weight saving and better weight distribution. Watsons are going to do the subframe work.
And while that's going on I'm joining the K Series power race. No more than 180 will be fine. ;)

Re: Rover K Series

I see.
Well that's good to know.
So that only leaves me to figure out how to do it :)
I assume then that I convert the existing A series frame to take a K series or do I take a K series ubframe from a TF for example then modify that?

I guess someone done it before. Well I hope anyway :D

Re: Rover K Series

A few people have done it but you have to move the headlights right forwards because the cambelt side of the engine is right where the headlight currently is. I'm about to start this swap because the A series is showing its age but I'm doin things a bit differently. I'm putting in a 1.8 and welding ...

Re: Rover K Series

I have a Mk3 Gold coupe with a K series fitted but did not do the conversion myself.
You are welcome to come and have a look or I could perhaps answer some of the questions you have.
My K series is an 8 valve. I think you would need serious bonnet/headlamp/front wing conversions to get in a 16 ...
