L_Jonez Mk2 rebuild

Started taking another look at the fuel tank/pump set up...

Decided that the extra height from having the pump mounted on top of the tank would mean I'd have to space the tank down a fair bit which I'm not a fan of as I want to lower the rear end


Whilst looking through the scrap pile I spotted some 25mm angle so I fabricated a frame to recess the pump into the tank.

Just need to enlarge the hole in the tanks and weld it in.

Offered the tank up and it's fair to say I'm a happy man



I can get on with striping the old stone chip and paint off the tank and treating it to some por15.

Making/routing the fuel lines will be fun :-S

Won't the pump suffer from surge when the fuel level is low?

Should be ok nearly all cars run internal pumps with no problems.

Done a bit more today, rubbed down the other radius arm. Then both arms where treated to some por15 rust converter and given a few coats of red oxide. Being as the Mrs was out I took advantage and used the washing line to help speed up the drying



Later in the day came the satin black




Then out of interest I weighed the bits cut off the arms ( again being as the Mrs was out)


0.5kg not much but every little helps.

Have not updated for a while, I've done a bit in the frame....



Start of engine mounts




All 3 are done and they support the weight of the engine. I just need to tidy the up round corners etc




Engine in the bay is tight on the driver's side and I've had to relieve the headlight recess a bit which means I'll have to space the headlight forward a bit or look at a smaller option



Progress is slow but it feels like I'm getting somewhere now.

Well today I went to castle comb and met a couple of the club members and it's spured me on to get this Midas finished and to actually join the club...
