Quote from BBC
"Second-hand cars are gaining rather than depreciating in value due to a shortage in supply, an industry-wide research company has found.
CAP Motor Research Ltd, which provides valuation data to the car industry, said the usual 15%-a-year depreciation of used car prices has been reversed."
Companies delaying replacing their fleets and the government scrappage scheme has led to a shortage in supply.
This year the average family car has increased in value by about £600.

Good ones can only go up in price now.
Re: Used cars 'now gaining in value'
I suppose kitcars and classic cars will increase in value as well, but lag behind the usual secondhand cars. I am following a few classic cars and these are being sold for considerable lower prices than they are worth. I suppose I have to buy one soon or pay top money in a few years. Concerning Midas, I don't see it happening in Holland. There is a perfect red Gold convertible for sale for 5000 euro. In my mind a fair price, but he doesn't get offers above 3500 euro. Which is almost an insult for such a great car.
Re: Used cars 'now gaining in value'
maybe this will change soon Hans.
looking on Ebay prices of parts seems to be creeping up too.
