A newby from France

Hello guys,

First of all, dear moderator(s) please accept my apologies, as I've posted several technical request before to introduce myself.

"Chris" is taken from my full first name, who's Jean-Christophe : Chris is rather shorter, and easier to write (or tell !), don't you think ?

As posted elsewhere on this forum, I'm the new owner of a Mk2, previously registered in Uk as Q334 FVT.

It is not my first english kit -or classic- car, as I already own several Triumphs, TVRs, MGs, Jaguars, Westfields, Caterham, (the list goes on....) and did owned several classic Minis during my younger years.

I also like bikes, mainly "all terrains", and 4x4 cars, as I own a serie 3 88" Land Rover and a Range Rover Classic.

I was looking for a Mk1 or Mk2 since years, missed an opportunity during the Beaulieu (about) ten years ago, but now I've got one, yepee !

In truth the forum seems pretty much dead, which is a shame.

Welcome Chris btw and enjoy the fettling the Midas. They are surprisingly good cars, Simple yet quite sophisticated. They for me beat Spitfires and Midgets all to hell.

Well, owning about 35 Triumphs (nearly every models from 1955 to 1981), I won't tell something bad about these cars that I really love since my first one in 1984.

But I'm pretty sure I won't be dissapointed by my Midas, it will be a very funny toy !

Edit : FB kill forums, imho, but time fly, what can be done, I don't know.

I have huge fondness for TR's and most things Triumph, a Midas is not a substitute for a good 4,5 of 6 TR. Yet despite its A series origins it remains a relevant car even today.

Some testimony to the chassis and driver involvement they engender.

I also have some TR history; my second car was a TR3, in 1968, followed by TR3A, TR4, and TR6. Since then it's been mainly Ginettas and Midases...

@ Geoff, Wow, at 53, I'm a Young kid compare to you : my first car was a TR7 convertible (I still own this one), in 1984, when I was 19 !

Mine was an Austin 1100 at roughly the same time and age! similar styling cues to the TR6 I reckon
