Mk3 convertible revisit after 12 years in a garage

Maybe you're squeezing all you can out of a 998, or going large-bore with a 1380 (or even larger!) - either way, let us know all about it here!

Seeing as I had a spare moment today I bolted the subframe on and gave the radius arms a lick of paint. Ordered some new stainless rebound buffers so will have to wait till they come in before refitting.

Everythings back on the car now in the rear suspension dept . Just need to sort out a new odyssey battery, flush the water system, get some better road plugs for the 7 port and see what needs doing next.

Well stuff keeps getting in the way since last post.

Somehow got the enthusiasm once again to have another crack at the convertible. Mk3 Coupe EV still to do - v slow burner - still getting parts.

Bought a bigger Odyssey PC950 battery (AGM30) for the boot. The old 25 model was shot anyway (as its been like 14 years since I last ran the car. only 7v showing on the old battery which I am surprised it still had any voltage to be honest).

Put 15 litres of 99ron E5 fuel in, turned her over a few times to prime the facet red top fuel pump and filter (yes the starter turned her over which was great news) and then found a leaky fuel pipe on the fuel inlet. Not surprised, again after so long. Managed to source another pipe in the parts bin then had another go. Probably need to change that pipe again though as I wasnt sure if its a fuel resistant pipe to be honest. Checked the webers were filling with fuel by taking the top of both and seeing what was showing inside then gave the motor ignition a go.

After a small single backfire she fired up and ran as smooth as before (well as smooth as weber 40 dcoes are).

Checked the water temps - all good. Checked the oil pressure - cold. All good. 85lb. Looks like some crap in the water lines as they were crusted. I will probably order a set of silicone ones.

Next job order some new oil, filter and coolant form minispares, plugs and plug leads as ones outer sheath has cracked. The ignition I am using is Megasquirt MS3 running ford EDIS on a 36-1 wheel. Still seems to be working ok.

Next job is I have to replace both inner and outer cv joints as they have all perished.

I bought a couple of sets of front Metro Mk2 coilover kits from Mike Satur but they will have to wait for another time as I need to drop the subframe to cut the top hats off for the watson coil spring conversion I have currently. Aim is to get some use out of the car finally.

Currently staring at the KAD 16v engine wondering when to put that back in before fuel runs out

Fair winds.
