Well, that was a bit of a disappointment

A friend of mine who went said the same thing, one hall with the stands selling sweets and nik-naks doing more trade than car bits.

That's a shame Exeter used to be a great show, that said I've not been for a while now. It was home to a rather sneaky game where the sharpness of the cutters for sale was tested on the plastic pint pots the trick was to just nick the top to start the fracture and see if your intended victim noticed before the split spread down or they got alerted by a damp shirt!!!

We never grow up we just get more creative!

It's usually pretty good as the smaller shows go, not sure if there hasn't been a change of management for this year. Perhaps this is a result of that. I did find it odd that the manufacturer that is based a stones throw from Westpoint didn't make the effort to go. No Rally Design either which was annoying as I wanted some of their cage padding that they won't post. Hopefully they will make it to Stoneleigh.

Yeah it was scarily empty. I think a fair bit was due to the new management of the show (which is the same people who run Stoneleigh as it happens) and also the fact that all the shows have been getting fewer and fewer attendances.

I really hope that this isn't the end of this show but to my gut feeling is that I don't think it's likely to be on in 2013 given what it was like on Sunday. I really don't think that having completely unrelated stands there was going to help it though. What on earth are a flat roof specialist doing there other than filling up a bit of empty floorspace?

I think it's all the more imprortant now that we try to show support for shows and the best way I feel this can be shown is by going as a club. I do think more interactive events are the way to go such as the Mini Action Day recently at Castle Combe. To help get some momentum going with club activity I think it would be good to have some regional activity and I've already mentioned I'm happy to do things with this regard in the "Wessex" area.

See this at a few shows trading space taken up more and more by random stores, I can understand sweet stalls, but Saturday market plastic crap stall I dont.

Issues I see are:
Lack of money people have at the moment or are less willing to spend.

Distance, Essex is bloody miles away that I can't justify the journey especially with the lack luster show.

Things to see/do. There just isn't enough activities to fill the day, after a few hours I feel like I've 'seen it all' and decide to go home after the third lap of the club stands and stalls. This also doesn't help the £10/15 entrance fee.

Time of year, its getting colder and wetter (or people would have you believe it) so the majority of roofless kit car owners will be put off.

I would propose joining another marke of classic or car club for event/show days, you get more people, more stuff to look at, variety of cars, more stalls, traders get more people, kit car manufacturers get to show cars to more people they could get interested etc but who/what would you team with?

There is a retro metal show my friend went to this year he stated as the best show he'd been to ever, ill be there next year to witness it...even if the Midas lacks in the metal department.

I would agree with James, visiting a few shows this year I've noticed the drop off in attendance.We do need to support some shows for the people who are really trying, Say Stoneliegh and the newly reintroduced Donnington, Newark was much depleted this year but needs supporting or we will lose it!. But for me the best show of the year is just about to happen, i.e.. The classic car show at the N.E.C.. I'm going for three days and still won't see it all. my view now being that Midas's are now 20 to 30 years old, so we can align ourselves with the classic brigade and preach the "look no rust message"...

Worth noting that parking is now £10 at the NEC

But only £5 a day at the weekend in the station car park, which is just as close to the NEC as their own car parks.
