I've tried to join Metro Power several times Alan, it's probably a problem with spam filters but I've never yet had an activation email.

Might have another go, it has been some time.

Just tried to register and found I've already got an account.... not sure what happened there..

All the conversions I've found so far are for K series cars, I'm assuming the PCD is different between A series and K series cars?

Have a look on Metropower, I've seen post referring to people using the Rover 200 rear calliper. There is actually a drawing of the adapter plate on there somewhere.

Confusing thread. It would be nice if they give good instructions how and what to use. Nonetheless interesting. It is now on my wish/to list. Manual rear brake adjustment is so 20th century.

Just brainstorming here, the PCD is different, but the brackets and callipers will be the same, as I see it it is all about the choice of the disc rotor. What disk did Stan use? Remember Stan used a Toyota calliper, after all the calliper is only a clamp with a handbrake attachment!

From reading it again I think he used a non ventilated K series metro front disc with some modification to the hubs and a spacer for clearance.

Can't see why you couldn't use the R200 caliper instead of the MR2 unit, it certainly looks like it would simplify the handbrake cable arrangement even if the bleed nipple is the wrong way up.

Hi Rich,

I think I've got some Rover rear callipers in stock. I'll try and look them out tomorrow. I'll see if i can also find the drawing for the bracket. We just need to solve the disc issue.

Thanks Alan,

The bracket sounds like a job for my plasma cutter.

Any reason why you can't use the MGF rear caliper? I'd have thought that would be an obvious choice.

I can think of a few reasons:
- does it fit on the Metro hub?
- does it fit inside a 13 inch wheel?
- can it be mounted with the bleed nipple up?
- is it easy to attach the Metro handbrake cable?
- is it cheap and easily available?

Stan used an aluminium plate. I'd prefer a steel one. On Metropower they used a 4mm stainless steel plate. I've seen pics on Metropower that it can be a very close fit inside the wheel. I'll try to refind the pics and link them here.

I think a few of these are questions are unknowns. Its useful to know there are potential alternatives.

Looking on the metropower site the only issue someone seemed to have was the different pickup for the handbrake cable. This can be resolved with the handbrake mech and cable off a MGF I bet. I dont know what the disc rotor is off though.

Bleed nipple downstairs is not the end of the world if you have a bleed kit with non return valve.

A scan on Ebay suggests you can pick them up for not that many pennies. It appears to be a Rover 800 caliper.
