Thank you for your interest, I'll get in touch with the supplier and confirm the price. We don't do P & P with the windscreens. We usually have a collection day, where we all meet up and you take your screen home on the backseat of your car! We did it at Stoneliegh last time. You can have your screen posted but it is very expensive!!!
I will check up tomorrow, but I now think we have fifteen orders and could now go ahead with the group buy!
WE COULD HAVE OUR NEW SCREENS IN 4 TO 6 WEEKS.
This is the last time I will do this as it is a lot of work, but I will do a rear screen group buy if there is enough interest, as I need rear screens myself.

Has anyone actually bought and used a new front screen rubber recently? The reason I ask is because I got a rubber from Charlie some time ago but my screen fitters said it was too stiff to use, so I wondered if any which is available will be the same.

Hey not wanting hassle. Just wanting an Idea of likelihood of this going ahead? As you know just sold one car, But turns out I really need to to an engine build sooner than I thought for the other

Just got to work out what funds I have. I don't want to pull out of a screen if it means no-one gets one.
peace and love

I've just got a nice little screen heater switch from a Vectra. Trouble is it's got five terminals helpfully labelled 1,2,3,4,5 so that's potentially 120 ways of connecting it up, even if I knew where all five wires go.

Hi Graeme,
The project will go ahead if 15 people stump up the cash!! I would just like to point out I'm not making any profit from this group buy and the total cost of the buy is in the region of £3450, so I cannot afford to fund the scheme and as I've pointed out in an earlier post, I already have three heated screens in stock and one new plain front screen! This will be the last time I do the front screens, I will do another group buy for rear screens, as I need to replace the ones I have, with new heated ones. I have four original rear hatches in stock and these will be sold when I get new replacements.
The message that I'm trying to get across is that parts are no longer available. We are already seeing posts on this forum, from people seeking out headlight rings, rear beams, carpet sets on the Mk 1s & 2s. On the Mk 3s it's rear radius arms to coil over brackets. I'm predicting that Metro rear sub frames are going to be a problem in the future and indeed Metro donor cars are becoming rare and suddenly expensive! If it is metal I can make it, with body parts we can take repair molds off another car, but glass we cannot do! Engines we will be able to rebuild for years thanks to the abundance of Mini parts.
With regards to the front screen it is only a matter of time before it starts to de-laminate. I had a Mk1( now sold) which is 30 years old and the first thing you notice is the milky looking areas around the edges. How bad does it have to be before the car fails its MOT! My 1991 convertible is starting to go milky around the edges and Fiat 126 screens to my knowledge are not a stock item anymore. Johnny who bought your Mk 2 slammed his Mk 3 convertible passenger door at The Moffat Rally and side window just shattered, where do you get one of those in a hurry! Luckily I had some in stock. so his car was back on the road in a few days. I've just saved a Mk 1 from being scrapped, that has a missing wind up side window glass, I will need to get some of these made in the future.
I'm sorry for the lecture, but I just wish Midas owners would wake up and see the future problems, we need spares to keep our cars on the road!
When the suppler confirms the price I will ask all interested parties for a cheque, which I will not cash until we have the required number of fifteen orders. Then when I place the order I will cash the cheque's to pay the supplier.
Again I'm sorry for the lecturing post, but a task like this takes a lot of time and effort, with no thanks at the end of it!

Good luck with the group buy Alan.
I think its worth anyone with a Mk1/2/3 Midas to keep one in stock. You never know when your Midas driving fun will come to an abrupt end with a stone chip. Good examples of cars off road are the Midas Mk4 and the Enfield 8000 EV cars. Some people scrap a car just to cannibalize a screen!
I can vouch for the windows delaminating and going milky. Its happened to two of mine in the past.....and one of them was a St Cobain one, which was the OEM supplier for the FIAT 126.
This will probably be the last chance on getting a new screen as its a heck of a cost to tool up for a one off.
