Re: Radiator Replacement
Just to add that there is actually more room in a mk 2 than the mk 3, so it could well be fitted. I've even had an Astra rad in the space.

Re: Radiator Replacement
I purchased some of the new radiator rubber mountings (MG F I think), they are much thicker than the old ones (Metro or Allegro). When fitted, they lifted the height of the radiator, just enough to stop the radiator going into the the gap. If you find a supplier for the older thinner little rubber doughnut shaped mountings, let me know.
It must have been an MGTF alloy radiator which I had, which is probable bigger than the MG F item, due to the cooling problems on the MG F. They improved a lot of stuff on the TF. With body modifications I think the TF would be a good donor for the Mk3. The are becoming very cheap now!

Re: Radiator Replacement
I plan to us a TF as the donor for my Nimbus.
Re: Radiator Replacement
I'd be interested in seeing what ideas you have, somewhere on this forum I posted pictures of my efforts in offering up a TF subframe to a Mark 3 Midas. It might give you some ideas.apbellamy wrote:I plan to us a TF as the donor for my Nimbus.
Here is the link with the photos of the TF subframe: http://midasownersclub.co.uk/forums/vie ... =16&t=1770

Re: Radiator Replacement
The Nimbus has the engine in the back and there's acres of room for it. I will start a build thread when I get round to it. Need to finish the mini first.
Re: Radiator Replacement
Have been having similar issues with my Mk1. It had a Metro Mk 2 rad (dead, rusty, full of holes) but on reading the build manual for the Mk2, it states it can also be from an Allegro. This made sense for the pipework to be all on one side. Got one from my wife's brother for free but it turned out to have a hole in it. Whoop-di-doo. Went to see about potentially getting a re-core (£150!!!
) so that was a non-starter; he did however suggest a new old-stock Mk 2 Metro rad so bought that and will look to drill appropriate holes & make mountings in due course. And yes it does fit!
