Had a spare hour after the rugby so started to strip down the front subframe....
The award for "way to long bolts" goes to - the previous owner
Followed by the award for the "worst possible use of cable ties"
Also a capttive bolt for the shocks has sheard off inside the crossmember

Front subframe is out and thank God I can get to the snapped off captive bolt through the tower bolt hole, it will be a pain in the peach but should be fixable
Also I stuck the engine in place, with clearance on the rack and the manifold lining up with the tunnel it puts the engine here
Obviously it will move a bit once it's in a frame but it looks like it will be close but possible

I think you're going to have to make the central front part of the car removable at some point.

Hi
This is the way I would go with missing the headlight and good access, yet still retain strength.
I've made subframes in the past and this is a cheap option :

Good luck Alan

Well not really had chance to play with engine etc
But Ive picked up fuel pump to go inside the tank during the week. Sooo thought I'd best have a look at the tank and measure up etc
First off was to remove the level sender which I was dreading as the tank is 35+ years old and its covered in all sorts of stone chip and paint but... All the screws came out without much fuss
Inside the tank is in great condition, which is nice surprise.
started to play with the pump, cut out the flange from the donor tank and with a bit of measuring cut a hole in the Midas tank
Not bad position wise need to bend the bracket a bit to get the pump closer to the bottom.
There is a slight sump in the tank but I would prefer it to be a bit deeper ( although I have to consider ground clearance)
So I started to think how I could create one... So I liberated one of the other half's baking tray
After a meeting with Mr angle grinder it looked like this
Should work nicely, although I'll get hold of another tray and do a neater job.

Not really much progress but I have managed to pick up some pipe to make a manifold
Just need to get some flanges made next.
