Thanks mate, much appreciated, it gives me a better understanding of how it all fits together.
Poking around with the tape measure shows I only have 50mm tyre to inner arch clearance so mounting coilovers behind the tyre may not be an option, however running 15" wheels does give a good useable space inside the wheel area with which to mount a coilover.

Still more measuring to do though. ..

You should be able to squeeze a damper in there, and a spring in the subframe.
