As I mentioned on the coilover bracket thread there's a group buy on Protech dampers/coilovers going on over at Turbo Minis, the suppliers have asked that prices aren't disclosed publicly, but let's just say they are good.

As I don't have rear coil overs to measure can anyone tell me the open and closed lengths of the units used on the Convertible please?

Yep saw those. I'll be using the Watsons springs on the front and the standard damper position and then the conventional coil over at the back. Just as soon as I find out the length of the units......

A ballpark spring rate would be useful too........ can of worms time.

That would be an idea for MK 4 owners who don't have rear-turrets for vertical dampers

I have a batch of corroded and leaking coil overs from Avo on the loft. These came from my Convertible, I replaced them with Spax and proper springs (the springs Avo's supplied were much too soft causing bottoming out of the rear suspension). I am at work at the moment, but will remove a spring and take measurements tomorrow.

I guess it must have a knuckle in the end.

The coilover supplied to me by Gaz were standard 13 inch coilovers, but the stem top was too short! I've just taken delivery of Protech coilovers for the front and the look suburb.

Stuart has emailed me the open/closed measurements for the coil over units, a good working spring rate and length would be very useful though. I'm no racing snake and the boot is often full of work stuff so harder would be better for me.

Does anyone have the Metro front damper lengths to hand? If not I'll have a wheel off on Monday when I'm next off work. (Cue rain).

There is a thread on this forum about the rear springs. I have uploaded a load sheet of my springs which I consider to be perfect. Although there is a lot of discussion, many people want softer springs. My guess is that the damper marque has something to do with it. I have the Spax and they work great. The rear of the car feels very stable, firm and doesn't "thumb" (what the Avo's did). My rear setup is similar to what the Corby factory started with. I had them on my red LHD coupe as well (now in Sweden).
