Anyone have one of these they want rid of?
Ideally an MG/VP Metro (but not Turbo) version.
Yes, I realise it's a long shot, but as someone once said, "if you don't ask, you don't get".

Indeed they are, mostly as no one wants 998's anymore, everyone upgrades and people hold onto them.
I gave my last one away for work on my car - really ought to have kept it, but couldn't afford the labour at the time!

Thanks Alan!

That is one of the more expensive examples I've seen...
But I did say non-Turbo...

I also gave away an A+ 1275 (Metro HLS) engine a couple of years ago, but it WAS a known oil-burner. Just the same, if I'd realised I might have needed one again, I'd still have hung on to it, oil-burner or not...

Indeed I should've kept it and rebuilt it with a mild overbore and put it in a mini...but mine was an oil burner with ruined shells no doubt.

Thinking about it, mine had come out of a crashed Metro around 1986, and after a brief outing in my Midas at that time, had been sitting in my Dad's garage unused since the day I gave it away, over 20 years later. It may have required a bit of work to get it running again - if it ever did...

But a turbo without the turbo, has a stronger crank and other bits I think. So it would make a good engine. Not this one of course, because you could buy 3 or 4 Midas's with engines at that price!

Good point about the crank Alan, I had neglected to think of the advantages - just thought of the additional stresses a Turbo engine would have suffered in its life (plus the lower compression ratio).
