Tank sender

Some time ago I bought a fuel tank sender off fleabay. I've just noticed it only has one connector, whereas the one on the car has two. Has this been modified to allow for the Midas tank not being grounded, or have I bought a dud? Also, how do you undo/do up the locking ring without bending off those stupid little lugs? What a crappy design!

Sounds like the same one on mine, my tank is grounded separately and just one connector on the sender.

Yep there's a couple of different types i think the earlier ones had only a signal tag the later ones had an earth too. If you can't get the retaining ring off without wrecking it all is not lost the part number is ARA1501 and it is used on classic Minis and Land Rover Defenders so is available from a Mini specialists or from Paddocks (Land Rover Gurus) as is the rubber gasket.
Cheers,
mike

I knew you'd want to see my three-pronged widget, locking rings for the turning of.
I must have too much time on my hands...
