This is my Mk 2 cleaned up for a visit to Stoneleigh in 2005. Still in its original 1985 polished gelcoat. It is currently off the road for an engine swap and front end refurbishment; hoping to have it usable again within a couple of months.
Five years on and time for some more recent pictures. In December 2008 I thought I was a couple of months away from getting 233 back on the road, but for various reasons, it didn't actually make it until June 2009. Here she is polished up for Stoneleigh 2010, still looking good for a 25 year old car in its original gelcoat finish. The only externally visible differences since the pictures above are the RC40 exhaust and TR7 filler cap.
A quick snap in the garage, but it came out like a studio art shot (at least that's what I like to think).

Seven years on from the last driveway photo session, Q737GFR is ready to hit the road again after a six year rest. Visual differences since last time include indicator repeaters, high level brake light, black headlamp surrounds, black windscreen air inlet, improved dash, tidied rear valance, new aerial, and better rear ride height. Looking pretty tidy for her 32 years - the gel coat still polishes up well, though on closer inspection there are a variety of discoloured patches showing through which don't show in the photos.
Tog, The seats are Ridgard as supplied by Midas, originally in my Mk3. I had the driver’s seat re-covered by Bob Ridgard when I swapped them over, as after 80k miles of supporting my backside in the Gold it was beyond its best. The rear dampers are AVO with adjustable spring seats, but the spring length was too short to allow the seat to go low enough without the spring coming loose on full droop - I finally got round to fitting helper springs to take up the slack (about an inch and a half), so now the seat can be wound down to give a better looking ride height with everything staying properly located. I can always wind them back up if I want to carry a heavy load.
Great to see a good flow of nicely restored and tidied up Midas
There's going to be a nice show of cars at Stoneleigh again assuming you'll bring it along Jon?
For those who might be tempted by a Midas as a project David Turner has one looking for someone to take it on in Bradford that needs a thorough going through. Could be a good time to snap one up as I can see people doing great jobs restoring their cars now and only resulting in values going up.
Kelvin, I am intending to go to Stoneleigh, it will be six years since this car was last there, although I've been a few times in my AC over that time. MoT is booked for next Monday, so even if there are problems I should have plenty of time to sort them out before then. I still doubt it it's worth much though because it hasn't got a Marcos badge on it.
