I've started using Google Analytics for monitoring the Midas Forum Site.

Here are some stats for last 24 hours for those curious.....

58 visits; of which

33 are from referring sites
19 are direct traffic; and
6 are from search engines

Average time on site: 2 minutes 42 seconds.
Overall page views: 402
Average page views: 6.93

Coutries visited:
UK
Germany
Sweden
France
Netherlands

Anyone wanting stats in the future, please let me know. Happy to supply.

Seriously though, it is good to see the forum being accessed by people from so many countries.

The only problem with the stats is that it doesn't show people like me who use the RSS feed to read all the topics and their replies but rarely visit the site unless I actually want to reply to a post like this. It would be interesting if you can get some stats on your RSS subscribers too, although I may be the only one reading the forum in this way.

Im not sure on that. I will need to look into it further IRO the RSS feed I built.

The code is put into the front page so should still pick up your access, albeit it wont be translated into RSS.....just as access, reading your IP and from that your location. I will know tomorrow though as it will be a full 2 days worth of viewing. Your in Spain if I remember? If so it should come up on the stats.

Main thing is to get a picture of new users and where they come from.

I'll be interested to see how you get on with this. As RSS is push rather than pull I am not certain other than these two posts you will see anything from my ip address 88.9.xxx.xxx. This is a problem that I have had on a couple of my sites where most of my readers are via RSS rather than browser.

573 visits; of which

328 are from referring sites
210 are direct traffic; and
35 are from search engines

Average time on site: 3 minutes 8 seconds.
Overall page views: 3376
Average page views: 5.89

Coutries visited:
UK
Germany
Sweden
France
Netherlands
Spain
Norway
US
Finland
Belgium

Not bad in just 3 weeks.

Its possible to pick up the RSS feeds (Colin) too but this involved some elastic trickery with the code. I will have a go later when I have some time.

Following on from 1st Jan 2010 here is the latest stats for those people interested in that sort of thing:

- 10,739 visits; of which
- 1,427 unique visitors
- 88,996 pageviews
- 5.52 mins average site visit
- 34 languages
- 44 countries
- 523 cities
Top city was London, followed by Newcastle. We know who you are
