This might help you (I may have got this link from this site, can't remember exactly)...

I've fitted a pair of 175/60 x 13 tyres on my front wheels. I have a two mile trip along a forest track to get to tarmac, every time I go anywhere, and I haven't noticed any rubbing, yet.

There's a convertible owner I spoke to at the Open Day earlier this year who is using that size, too.

When I was using 13" wheels I used 185/55 R13's without a problem

By using those instead of my 175/60 x 13s I would lose 34mm of tyre diameter, or 17mm ground clearance. I can't afford that!

That could also be the reason Alan is always complaining about the ride in his Midas, 45 no-profile=harsh ride, sensible 60 series profile= nice comfortable ride ;) :) sometimes the past was better :!:

They last between 2,000 and 6,000 miles depending on how you drive so I'm told

In my experience Yokos are great on sunny days but because of the compound they use they're crap in the wet and wear out quickly. Toyo's are pretty good but not sure if they make a 185/55. It's been about 10 years since I used 13's and I think I used Pirellis

Toyo do make a road tyre in that size, and the Metro owners rate it highly, but they don't make many and are currently hard to get hold of.

I've got 165/65/13, they just touch the mudflaps on lock but as long as the wheels go round I don't care 8-)
