We’ll disagree about the drivability but as far as I know this is is the first head gasket failure. As I never lifted the head I don’t know what was used but I assume it was a stock head gasket that might explain the blow through.

I know it is anti intuitive but if this is happening on hot but humid days it can be carburettor icing.

As I haven't had time to repair whatever is wrong with the Midas I may instead tricycle down as I have just had that in pieces for a service.
