...and it's got me wondering. Does anyone know how Harold constructed the VIN code on the Midas? I know you can decipher a lot of information from the codes on "normal" cars, I just wondered how the Midas codes were derived.

(edit) A brief look at it again and I'd guess "8809" is the date of manufacture, and the last 7 characters follows on from the 7 character code used before Midas started using the 17 character VIN code. However, that still leaves "SA9AN" and "J". Any ideas?

Well, so much for my interpretation of "8809" then, looks like the date is "J"...

...just coincidence that mine would have been built around the end of 1988. 8-)
