Camshaft timing

Post by jonevansmidas »

I recently found in my garage a brandnew SW5 camshaft and cam followers which I had bought some years ago. The parts are sealed in the original packaging, but are in a Kent Cams box marked SW5. I can't remember whether this is a Kent cam to the original manufacturers ( whose name I forget - Swiftune ?) spec. or whether Kent has taken them over.
Can anybody please tell me what the timing for the SW5 should be?
The 1275 Metro engine is out on the bench at the moment as I'm in the process of fitting a 5-speed box I bought , again some years ago, from Charlie Dodd ready for the French trip.

Hi,

Cut 'n' pasted from Turbominis... http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=8343

Swift tune SW5 road cam,

Checking height: 0.016" @ lobe

Timing: (Intake): 15/49 (Exhaust): 52/12

Nominal lobe lift: (Intake): 0.281" (Exhaust): 0.281"

Duration (Intake): 244 (Exhaust): 244

Lobe centre angle (Intake): 107 (Exhaust): 110

Lobe separation angle: 108.5

Lift on overlap: 0.036"

Hope that's useful.

Rich

Many thanks Rich - looks a most useful website.
Now all I've got to do is find a couple of 1/4 UNF coutersunk scews for the front plate!
