MIDAS GOLD ENGINE NUMBERS

I am lucky enough to have a Gold with an original 1400 engine in. Is it possible to find out if it is a 1.4 or a 1.4s by the engine number ? From memory, it starts ABR , but the rest escapes me until I collect it from the MOT station tomorrow. I can photo the block if necessary.

That would be an Avonbar engine. If you have the receipt of the original purchase it should say which engine it is. They were factory supplied.

Thanks Hans. Unfortunately I got a build manual but no receipt. I wondered if there were any visual differences between the 1.4 and 1.4S
