Well the exhaust flanges turned up today ( thanks miniswift)

Image

So its ready for welding up

Turns out I'm my own worse enemy, I rubbed down some dodgy looking stone chip on the rear floor with the intention of fixing it

Image

Then hours later I've decided that it all needs to come off :-(

Its the usual way, with the best intensions a small job ends up being a major over hall. I'm having the same issue recommissioning my MK2, I started off with a set plan what I was going to do now my to do list is about twice as long.
At least you have got a good base to start with now rather than recoating over the old stuff and regretting it later.

My father came over earlier, he had found the original brochure and a few articles he read which lead to him buying the Midas

Apparently there's a fair few photos of him building the car as well in the attic

Really really need to decide on a colour for the respray now. My head is saying white but the Mrs suggested silver which I can't say I've seen on a Midas ? Or I've had a urge to paint one of the minis black tulip for years now but not sure if that would look right :-/

They look good in white, but there are a lot of white ones about.

Hmmm silver is pretty good... Argh I hate choosing colours, it can make or brake a car

On a side note I cleaned all the oil/dirt/stone chip off the exhaust tunel and found a few sections that have been affected by heat
Image
Going to repair the affected areas then treat the exhaust tunel to some form of heat sheild

Forgot to post the small bit of progress last week

Did a bit more on the manifold, centres for runners 2&3 marked up, tack welds holding runners cut off and then attacked with a hole saw :)
Image
Then the runners welded back on

Image
Bit of porting to do where I had to much penetration *sniggers* then the flanges can get welded on :D

Great job on the manifold. Yes metallic red is a great color for a Midas. I am not aware of any Bronze, but there are a few Gold's. One in Sweden, one in Japan and one in the UK.

I've heard the Murray mid engined Bronze is alos metallic red, but I have never seen pics of it when it was finished.
