Seats for mk2

Post by Inim666 »

Hi people I'm struggling to find some seats that will fit the midas without going down the route of mx5 jobbies. What do you all have fitted?

This is a bit off the beaten track but I know that Lotus Elise seats make a good fit too. Somewhere I have a photo of one popped in my Gold Coupe for size and they will easily fit the Mk2 also

I had RS Turbo seats in my mk2, they where tight but fitted, they where then replaced by generic kit car type seats similar to http://www.johnbrownwheels.com/Shop/P-1 ... -Pair.html

I put MG TF seats in my Gold coupe.
They were quite an easy fit

smart car seats fit nicely in my mk 3 without their raised frame (which bolts on and off)

I was very lucky with mine. A car accessory store nearby ( not there now ) had a good selection of car seats on display. So with tape measure in hand there was a pair of corbeau reclining seats that were within size that virtually matched the interior and not too over priced.

I have Honda CRX in my Excelsior. Comfortable to sit in all day long, the car has been down to the French Alps and South West France. Thinking about doing the Scottish Northern coast road this summer

Good seat for the MK2 will always be a problem.

The Mk2 is verry low, so some seats will fit, but then there is not a lot of room for your head.

All tips and tricks that works for an Mk3 and later are not working for a MK2, since the Mk2 is 4 inch lower.

I got the MX5 seats now, they do fit, but i got now problems putting my head somewhere...

I think the best choice are default bucket seats. This is still on my list when the funds are there...

I had thought to come in and say something similar. However a mk2 isn't 4" lower than a mk3, they're about the same in overall height.

It is the floor of a mk3 that is around 2" lower than in a mk2. So seats that fit well in a mk3 won't necessarily work in a mk2.
