Can anyone give me some hints or tips as how to get a decent door fit, no wear on the hinges, but cannot get a nice fit ?
Is the door lock from a Metro ? as i need to replace it as it is rusted solid.

Re: door fit
The door locks are late 70's early 80's Ford, Escort, Cortina, capri. Coming up with a way to tension the outer door skin to the bottom of the rearward window frame seem to get good results if that's where your issues are?
Like this I think http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-m ... 1614467520

Re: door fit
Thanks for that Stuart i will give that a go, you said the door mechanism was early Ford escorts etc, i have now got the door mechanism free and working ok, its the lock itself that is solid, was that from the same cars ? As i expect you know untill i have got the lock in i am unable to put the frame or glass back in as you cannot reach the lock once there in.
Re: door fit
The original lock was from a Ford of the same era, I changed mine for a later model Ford at some point, I imagine several types of lock will fit, mine was glued in if I remember correctly, but I'm going back 25 years or so.mickyb wrote:Thanks for that Stuart i will give that a go, you said the door mechanism was early Ford escorts etc, i have now got the door mechanism free and working ok, its the lock itself that is solid, was that from the same cars ? I changed mine without removing the door frame, but I'm struggling to picture it now.
