Eureka!
I have successfully married up my MGF Electric PAS to a CORSA B speed controller input - and it all seems to work very well on the bench!

Now to engineer the column into the car !! :D :D

The MGF lower column is the same as the Rover Metro /Rover 100 part no QMN 100182. You need the bottom fitting that goes between this and the rubber coupling on the rack. The rubber coupling has holes of the same pitch as on your existing rack, so this will then join up without the need for any cutting and welding.

thanks for that Alistair, I am awaiting a lower coupling to be delivered as it wasn't attached when I picked up the rest of the column.

Useful info though so I am well prepared for the task of fitting to the car !!

Cheers

For the benefit of anyone wondering what I was waffling on about here are a couple of pictures to hopefully make things clearer:
Lower column

For the K-series Metro Rover added in a couple of U/Js at the bottom of the column. The rubber coupling to the rack had the holes on the same PCD (pitch centre diameter) as on the old A-series Metros, so this will fit directly onto the existing pinion coupling.

The later rubber coupling has the extra safety feature of the metal loops over the column yoke fittings and these were joined by large rivets at the factory - as shown above. However, if the rubber coupling is showing its age you can cut off the rivets and replace it with a new rubber coupling held on by bolts (M8 high tensile).

even better explanation Alistair... many thanks

On a related note: i want to cover up the SRS airbag logo on the MGF steering wheel (now that I have removed the airbag completely). Does the club possess a small logo that I could use?

Why, it clearly says Midas Gold :)

But yes they have small round badge, I have one on my (old) steering wheel as well. It was also on the club keyfob but I believe they were for sale as a separate piece. If the club sold out you can have mine, I just got a new steering wheel without place for a logo.

I'm not sure what the 28 mm badge is. Guessing it's the round one that goes in the gearknob top, or replaces MG badges if you're that way inclined.

Melt or scrape the SRS off and stick a piece of leather cloth in there perhaps.

[quote="Stuart"]I'm not sure what the 28 mm badge is.

They are used as stickers on the Revolution RFX centre caps.
