Mk2 Refurb nearly finished

Post by Jon »

Not much left to do now, just put in the seats and sort out the choke/idle settings that I’ve completely messed up. Hoping to be ready for an MoT at the beginning of April.

Alan, the simple answer, which isn't a lot of use, is that the door pulls are from a Mk3 Midas. The whole door cards are from my first Mk3, which as a Gold kit came with the doors fully trimmed, so the build manual doesn't tell you where they come from. You just need to find someone who knows what Midas fitted to Mk3s in 1989.

There's quite a lot of my first Mk3 in this Mk2 - Engine, gearbox, front brakes, door cards, floor carpets, Ridgard seats, hatch hinges, gear knob, washer reservoir, and probably a few other small bits and pieces. I was using my original steering wheel, but with the upgraded dash it was looking a bit scruffy, so I treated it to a new one that better suited the new colour scheme.

Hi Jon
The car is a credit to you. I've just acquired a Mk1, which is mechanically excellent, but the inside is very tattie, I think mainly due to a leaking sun roof.

I think I had one, to obtain the C16 engine, But now the car has gone to scrap. Never mind there will be an alternative.
Thanks Stuart.
